Ceramic floors

Ceramic is a material of old tradition made of a mix of clayey substances such as clay, feldspar, sand, iron oxides, aluminium and quartz.

These substances, which are fashioned and modelled and then dessicated to room temperature and finally baked and strengthened in the oven, produce a ceramic composed of fine and flattened crystals.

The shape of the crystals also gives a certain plasticity to the clay used in the production of the ceramic. This is reflected in the easy working of the clay.

For its beauty and malleability, ceramic is frequently used in the creation of generic objects (majolica, porcelain, terracotta, sandstone) and in the tile coverings for floors and walls. The decorations represent the final part of the manufacturing of the ceramic and may be engraved, painted, patterned or in applique.
