dessication: desiccation or drying consists in separating a solid material from the liquid of which it is composed (generally water) to cause its evaporation. Ceramics is a material which is often submitted to desiccation initially at ambient temperature and then in specific ovens which provide the heat required for this process. Desiccation obtains consolidated materials free of water.
